InVIZION has come a long way from our
starting point.
2005 has seen a name change from Creative Arts.
Our name change was seen to be an important part of the development
of this ministry. We felt a yearning to do more and explore our creativity
in new ways. The new name - InVizion Visual Arts is part of that.
We believe God wants us to
use our art to reach out into the community and present the gospel message.
All sorts of different name combinations were trialed and tossed around.
Some of the options were very obviously Bible based. We didn’t
want this to be a hindrance to non-church people who would be viewing.
We seek to be always working within God’s vision for us - hence
the name InVizion. The letter Z creates a subtle link to Christ.
God is the master Creator. He has made us
creative people. We can express our worship, our thanks and our gratitude
to God through our art. InVizion seeks to present the message of God
in a creative and fresh manner. The logo is based on a butterfly that
is breaking out of a box. God wants us to explore Him in new ways and
not ‘box’ or ‘package’ Him
in a traditional way. We need to look at Him through different angles
and present Him as the great I AM, the one who created us and wants to
have a relationship with us.
As a result of our first exhibition during May/June, 2005,
our team was invited to join the Baptist Union of Victoria Art Network
- a very diverse group of people who are excited about reclaiming art
and bringing it back into the church. This group meets bimonthly and
is looking at ways to help develop art within the Baptist Church as a
whole.
The Creative Arts team were a group who began by ‘decorating’ the
church. God is now leading us in a very different direction. Turning
our hallway into a gallery and becoming involved with the BUV Art Network
is very exciting. God is amazing. His timing is spot on. We are thrilled
to be able to sit and watch in amazement as He reveals the next direction.
Please pray for us that we will hear His voice clearly and follow faithfully
His direction.
