We divide our input sessions into quarterly focuses that build on each other. These weekly input sessions are a blend of content and experiences that are designed to engage both your mind and your heart. The exact delivery of these and the content is adapted each year to the particular questions and wrestles of the group.
A focus on discovering your purpose, value, and identity through learning who you are in God's Kingdom.
A deeper dive into discovering how your gifts, talents, and passions work into God's greater story.
Discovering how to connect with God's Spirit and to be a part of His unfolding story in our world today.
Reconciling all the experiences from over the year with where God is calling you to next, be it work or study, as someone who is living out their faith everyday.
Placement is an integral part of the internship Experience. It provides an individual tailored opportunity which we align with your areas of passion and gifting. Together we share in these experiences through times of group reflection and some key combined experiences. We desire to work individually with each intern to provide them opportunities within their areas of passion as well as leadership training opportunities under an experienced member of our Ministry Team.

A key component of the internship is to help you explore the role of faith in your life. This is not a one size fits all process so we seek to partner in each interns individual life journey and explore this together.
We facilitate this through providing providing spiritual input through group conversations and reflections, along with practical ways for you to use your passions and gifts for God.
While people come to faith organically, we have noted some key factors that are present that can help their faith grow. For many people, their Christian faith can become just a part of their life – an add-on or something that they do. We want to journey with you and help ask questions of your faith. We want your faith to be integrated into every aspect of your life. We recognise 5 catalysts that each contribute to forming faith in people and have sought to adopt these into the heart of our internship model.
Spiritual input that makes sense.
We focused on life transformation, not simply knowledge acquisition. The internship seeks to provide times of study and conversations around understand who God has made us to be and how we find our fulfilment in him.
Spiritual rhythms for everyday life.
We provide the experience and tools for a variety of ways to connect with God. This provides the interns with a broader perspective of who God is through times of service, solitude, devotions, bible study and worship.
Leadership opportunities and training.
The participation in the areas of placement provides a practical learning ground for the intern to use their spiritual gifts and explore their leadership. This will be coached by our ministry leaders and they will gain the opportunity to work in teams and learn through practical experience.
Life changing experiences.
The most memorable experience we have are generally things that happen outside of the normal rhythms of life. Over the year there will be many opportunities to be involved in experiences that provoke questions and space for you to explore what God may be saying to you through these.
Significant Relationships.
Through providing environments that creates strong relationships we seek to maximise the possibility of these relationships to become life-changing. There are opportunities for these to be from the mentor relationships, internship coordinators, ministry leaders, broader staff team and other interns.
The internship is open to anyone over the age of 18 and you may need to be able to obtain a passport. If you are outside of Australia, then a visa is required. We can assist in this process.
Due to the nature of the commitments and intentional focus of internship we require that it be made a priority above other higher education study or employment. Committing to the internship will require you to work these commitments around the intern schedule of placement, input day, and trips/experiences. A full calendar of commitments will be provide.
For those who are traveling from rural, interstate or overseas we will help partner you with a host family for the duration of your internship. This will provide free accommodation, but you will have to contribute towards the family to help cover general expenses.
It is an expectation that our interns are willing to learn, willing to support and willing to participate. We cultivate an honest community with openness and generosity. Interns are included as a part of the church staff team, and as such there is an ongoing commitment from the team to invest in our interns. There is also an expectation that our interns will prioritize intern commitments, study, ministry experiences and mentoring. We expect interns to be on time for each of their various ministries, setting an example for those teams that they are working with. We also expect our interns to manage their sabbath, scheduling time off regularly.
There is a significant cost to running as expansive an internship as we do at CHBC. However, we have always attempted to make our experience as cost-effective as possible. The ministry contribution for an intern each year is $1,500, this includes all experiences required to be undertaken over the year such as camps, trips, conferences etc. This does not include additional expenses including general living, accommodation, and travel, or any study expenses if undertaking the additional study option.
CHBC is contributing $3000 for each intern to cover training costs, and we will look to partner you with a sponsor who will contribute $1,500 and long-term mentoring.
Because of the time structure of the internship, there is a possibility of working part time somewhere else.
As an intern you can choose which one of our 3 worship experiences you will commit to as your service for worship, reflection and participation. On top of this there are opportunities in the other services, significant services and events in the life of Croydon Hills Baptist Church that you will be involved in.
